– Canada won 8-1 against the Czech Republic. I started to feel a little bad for the poor Czech goalies. Canada started out a little nervous and hesitant, but then they started to pour it on after that. Tavares was excellent, obviously. I was more interested in little baby Cody Hodgson of course. He had two points, and could have had a bunch more than that. Some of his passes were absolutely gorgeous! At one point in the game he passed the puck between his legs, turned the Czech defence out, and was ever so close to poking it between the goalie’s pads. Very excting.
– Unfortunately, the Canucks were not nearly as successful. They had an excellent and very entertaining third period, and almost made a comeback from 3-0, but just ran out of time. I’m a little bit glad they didn’t win though. Maybe they’ll finally realize they can’t take stupid pointless penatlies in the first and second periods and expect to still win. I’m not sure if it’s a player or coach thing, but if only they played like they did in the third period for the whole game. Oh well. I think it’s one of those low points in the long NHL season. Hopefully it won’t last too long. A strong game against the Sens might be just the thing to break this slump. At least the FanZone liveblog was entertaining. It makes the losses a little less disappointing.
